God Makes a Way in the Wilderness
3 Minutes Read
2 Kings 3:16–17, NIV

"This is what the Lord says: 'Make this valley full of ditches.' For this is what the Lord says: 'You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink.'" (2 Kings 3:16–17, NIV)
Are you facing a situation that seems to be preventing you from moving forward in life? Are you going through a dry season and wondering how you ended up there? Perhaps you feel trapped because of wrong choices you made in the past, or maybe you are waiting for God to move. Take heart, my dear friend. No matter what situation you are in today, if you humble yourself and surrender your life to the Lord, He will graciously show you the way out of your trouble.
In 2 Kings 3:9–20, we read about three kings—Joram, the king of Israel, Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, and the king of Edom—who joined forces to wage war against Moab, as Moab had rebelled against Israel and refused to pay the tribute they owed. They chose to attack Moab by travelling across the wilderness of Edom. For seven days they journeyed through the wilderness until they ran out of water. Soon, they found themselves in a desperate situation. Their water supply had been exhausted, and there was no source of water because they were in the desert. The kings realized they were facing a situation that was humanly impossible to overcome, and fear gripped them.
At this juncture, Jehoshaphat realized they had ended up in such a situation because they had not inquired of the Lord regarding the battle plan. Therefore, they went to Elisha the prophet and sought the Lord. The Lord graciously responded, saying that although they would see neither wind nor rain, the valley would be filled with pools of water so that they, along with their cattle and animals, would have enough to drink. He also promised that He would give Moab into their hands.
Just as the Lord had promised, the very next morning the valley was filled with water, and they were all refreshed. The Lord then used the very water He had miraculously provided to bring confusion upon the enemy. When the sun rose and shone upon the water, it appeared like blood to the Moabite army. Since there had been no wind or rain, they never imagined that the valley had been miraculously filled with water. Instead, they assumed the three kings had turned against one another and slaughtered each other. Expecting to gather plunder, they advanced toward the Israelite camp unprepared for battle, and they were easily defeated.
My dear friend, today you may be facing a challenge where you feel trapped and do not know the way out. Or perhaps you are wondering whether you are walking in the path God has ordained for you—in your career, your family, or the decisions you are making. Maybe you have been seeking God for a solution or longing to hear His voice.
Do not be discouraged. Continue to seek God diligently even when you cannot see a way forward. Our God is a miracle-working God. At the right time, He will intervene in a way that only He can. No human effort or wisdom can produce the breakthrough that God alone can bring. He not only delivers you from your situation but also blesses you beyond your expectations, turning what was meant for harm into a testimony of His faithfulness. Just as the blessing God provided for Israel became the means by which He defeated the Moabites, the very blessing the Lord brings into your life can become the means by which He defeats every enemy that rises against you.
Never give up because of life's circumstances. Anchor yourself in the Word of God and keep trusting Him. If you have gone in the wrong direction, He will gently correct you. If you are on the right path, He will encourage and strengthen you to stand firm. As you seek Him faithfully, He will guide you every step of the way, saying, "This is the way; walk in it" (Isaiah 30:21).
Take courage and seek God faithfully in every circumstance. Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5–6). Walk in His ways, be blessed, and become a channel of blessing to others.
God bless you.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I surrender this situation into Your hands. Guide me in Your ways and help me to trust You even when I cannot see a way forward. Intervene where I cannot, and let Your miracle-working power bring the breakthrough You have prepared for me. Thank You for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
