No matter what calamity comes around us, we can rest assured in God, who is our stronghold in times of trouble. Our protection comes from Him alone (Psalm 37:39). He will preserve us from all evil.

“If he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly.” (2 Peter 2:5, ESV, emphasis added)
It was a time when the wickedness of man reached its peak. God was looking at the crown of His creation from Heaven. He could not bear to see the evil, for He is Holy. However, God, being more concerned about the heart condition, digs deeper into the situation. To His disappointment, “…the wickedness of man was great upon the earth, every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was altogether evil at all times” (Genesis 6:5,6). Sadly, this grieved His heart! He decided to wipe out the whole of mankind along with all other creatures on earth. He had to consider such a tough decision!
It is in this situation, the Scripture says in Genesis 6:8, “But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.” God decided to preserve this one man and his family. Do you know why? The ninth verse of the same chapter records, “he was a righteous man; blameless in his generation; he walked faithfully with God.” So much of evil surrounded him, yet we see this man walking faithfully with God.
Today, even if we live in an unrighteous world, when we accept Jesus as our Savior, all our sins are blotted out as Jesus paid the price for them. We are the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ. “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe” (Romans 3:22). “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight” (Ephesians 1:4). God sees us as righteous today because of His Son Jesus. He sees us as being blameless. Therefore, His favor is always resting on us and He is pleased with us.
The Word of God says in 2 Peter 2:5 that, God preserved Noah when all the ungodly were wiped out by the flood. One touch of God’s favor protected and preserved Noah and his family.
The Lord who preserved Noah when calamity struck the world will preserve us who put our trust in Him. No matter what calamity comes around us, we can rest assured in God, who is our stronghold in times of trouble. Our protection comes from Him alone (Psalm 37:39). He will preserve us from all evil. He will keep us from all harm (Psalm 121:7). May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us! (Psalm 90:17).
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I believe in you and I put my complete trust in you. You are my righteousness and I know that you are pleased with me. Let your favor rest on me and protect me from all harm. I take refuge in you, my Lord. Amen.
