God has placed seeds of greatness inside each one of us according to the plans and purpose that He has for us. When we yield to the Will of God and start working on our skills and abilities, the seeds that God has planted inside us starts growing.

“Meanwhile, a Jew named Apollos, an eloquent speaker who knew the Scriptures well … and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John.” (Acts 18:24,25, NKJV)

We read about a man named Apollos, who was an eloquent speaker in the last portion of chapter 18 of the book of Acts. This man was anointed to be a speaker – it was his calling; he was an evangelist in the kingdom of God; he was faithful to train himself in the Word. People can be eloquent in speech but when they are not passionate about speaking, they do not make enough effort to learn. However, this man was not so, rather he was “fervent in spirit,” meaning he was passionate about what God called him to do. Therefore, not only did he sharpen his skill by learning, but he also spoke and taught accurately.

Now, the point to be noted here is that, when he started pursuing his passion, “his knowledge was limited”– he knew only about the baptism of John. He did not know the message of the gospel completely. Yet, he was fervent and did what he did faithfully with all his might. Therefore, at the right time, God connected him with the right people – Aquila and Priscilla – and taught him the entire message of the gospel (Acts 18:26) and they helped him to excel.

In the same manner, God has placed seeds of greatness inside each one of us according to the plans and purpose that He has for us. When we yield to the Will of God and start working on our skills and abilities, the seeds that God has planted inside us starts growing. During the initial seasons, when the sharpening of our gifting is in progress, God expects us to be faithful even with the limited knowledge or ability that we have.

God loves to see His children do what they are doing, not out of obligation but with passion. Because when we do passionately all that we ought to do, it reveals our heart’s attitude – it means that we are approving God’s leadership in our life; it shows our commitment towards God.

That is the reason the Scripture instructs us in Colossians 3:23 as, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, …” We can be assured that when we are faithful in the small things that God has entrusted us with, He will make sure that we move forward making progress, by connecting us with the right people at the right time.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, I commit my life into your lovely hands. Today, I make a commitment to do everything that you want me to do (including my daily chores, career) passionately unto you. I believe, at the right time, you will lift me and will bless me. Amen!
