God will increase your strength!!

2 Minutes Rwad

Isaiah 40:29

God will increase your strength!!

“He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.”

In the Scriptures, we read about Prophet Elijah, who had been following the instructions of God faithfully, all through his life. He was a mighty man of God! There was a season in his life, where he boldly challenged the false prophets (the prophets of Baal). He demonstrated the supernatural power of God at Mount Carmel by bringing fire from Heaven. He was strong and bold, that none of the false prophets could stand before him; in fact, they were all utterly defeated and were put to death (1 Kings 18:40).

At this crucial point, when Elijah thought that he had successfully completed the most difficult task that was assigned to him by God, he received a message from the wicked Queen Jezebel, which was “looking out for Elijah’s life.” Elijah was devastated as he did not expect such a risk at that time. Not knowing what to do, he easily gave up, started running away from the country to safeguard his life, found a juniper tree amid the wilderness, and went to sleep; all the while asking God to take his life. He was wailing in self-pity and was quoting to God all his zeal and faithfulness to God. He had forgotten that it was God who helped him to demonstrate such might, and no matter what consequences arise for being obedient to God, God will protect him and will be His strength. God knew, at this point, Elijah was not receptive to any counsel from Him. He knew that Elijah felt too weak and felt that he had no might. So, God was patient with him, cared for him and sent an angel to just feed him with bread and water, to strengthen him for the journey (1 Kings 19: 4-8). He increased his strength, so that he can move forward trusting in God. Indeed, Elijah was able to travel forty days and forty nights and reach Mount Horeb, where he had an encounter with God (1 Kings 19:8). After which Elijah was restored, regained his boldness, prophesied during the reign of the next King, Ahaziah (2 Kings 1), appointed his successor, Elisha and was taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire and horses of fire (2 Kings 2:11)

Often, we get weary and think we have no might. Just a few minutes of meditating on the goodness of God in our past, would pick us up from that state of giving up. God, knowing our human weakness, will be the very-present help in times of need (Psalm 46:1) and will empower us by increasing our strength through His Word and the Holy Spirit. The Word of God is the bread for our life and the Holy Spirit is the living water who would quench our thirst. The moment when we allow the Spirit of God to enlighten the Word of God in us, we will be empowered to move forward boldly overcoming all hurdles in life.

God bless you!
